Supply Chain Planning
From Material Reference to Finished Garment

This page describes the information to confirm across material sourcing, design, production and delivery. Images and file names are not evidence of ownership, certification, origin or performance.

Material source confirmation

A material image or filename can be retained as a visual reference, but it does not establish a farm, mill, ownership, composition, fibre grade or origin. Ask for the matching swatch, supplier identity and current documentation.

For a selected material, record the article reference, composition, width, weight unit, finish, care guidance, availability and quotation conditions before sampling.

Traceability questions

When a project depends on a specific fibre, mill or material story, request evidence that matches the selected swatch and lot. Keep the source, composition, origin and any claim in the project file.

For the wearer: connect the confirmed material properties to the intended climate, movement, care routine and dress code. Do not infer performance from a photograph or marketing name.

Project Documentation

Evidence to Request Before Approval

No certification, ownership, origin or performance claim is made here. Request the documents that match the material, garment and project.

Material specification

Confirm fibre or material composition, article code, width, weight unit, finish and any applicable test report for the selected lot.

Source and chain record

If origin, mill identity or traceability matters, match the supplier record and lot documentation to the physical swatch. Certification status is confirmed per material, not assumed.

Use and care evidence

Confirm care instructions, intended climate, movement, maintenance and any tested performance that the project requires. A visual reference cannot establish these outcomes.

Documentation availability and format are confirmed for the selected material and project.

Reference Handling

Use Images as Questions, Not Proof

Visual assets remain only when their subject and relationship to the project are confirmed. For unverified source imagery, request a matching swatch, supplier record or project photograph instead of relying on the filename.

End-to-End Integration

From Material Brief to Finished Garment

Six stages to document with the project team. Ownership and subcontracting arrangements are confirmed rather than assumed.

1. Material reference

Match the selected material to a supplier swatch, article reference and current documentation. Do not infer farm ownership, fibre grade or origin from an image.

2. Material processing

Record the processing stage, responsible supplier and applicable documents for the selected lot. Any partner or subcontracting relationship is confirmed per project.

3. Fabric sourcing

Fabric source, mill identity, agency status, price and availability are verified against the selected swatch and quotation. No authorization or fixed catalogue is implied by this page.

4. Pattern & Design — In-House Studio

Design and pattern decisions are translated into a production file after the brief, sample and size information are approved.

5. Manufacturing

Production location, sampling, inspection steps and capacity are confirmed against the approved specification and project quotation.

6. Delivery arrangement

Shipping method, customs responsibilities, destination, cost and timing are stated in the written quotation. DDP is not a universal promise.

Project clarity

Why a documented chain matters

A written chain makes responsibilities visible: which material was selected, who supplied it, which sample was approved, where production occurred and which delivery terms apply.

The project file should contain evidence matched to the selected lot and garment. Ownership, certification, performance and cost outcomes are not inferred from a page, a filename or a general statement.

A documented chain gives the team a reviewable answer about the selected material, approved sample, production arrangement and delivery conditions—without turning an unverified story into a promise.
